Alan was one half of comedy duo The Simmons Brothers for 36 years. Starting out as singers they recorded for Pye Records under the direction of Tony Hatch. After a few years they began to drop songs as comedy gradually took over. They wrote all their own material and supported some of the biggest names in the business. Ken Dodd-Sir Norman Wisdom-Danny La Rue-Max Bygraves-Peggy Lee-The Drifters etc etc Alan is a brilliant ventriloquist and appears these days with his sidekick Denny. They can be seen on Youtube "alan simmons and denny". Alan became a Water Rat in 1987.
