During the 1970's (after leaving art school) began touring a one-man, mainly
a street show. In 1975 obtained an Arts Council Grant, brought a van and
expanded the show. Started appearing at various festivals around the country and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
1981 began a long association with the West End Show Barnum and will be
forever remembered as 'the man on stilts outside the Palladium welcoming
the theatre goers.' 1982 featured in the pop group Madness promo-video for
their number one hit House of Fun.
1985 returned to Barnum in Manchester then at the Victoria Palace, with the
BBC film screened in1986. Continued appearances at various theme parks
and began working the Gala Circuit throughout this country and abroad.
In 1987 co/devised with producer Peter Charlton and starred in BBC children
series The Antics Roadshow as Albert Antic.
Appeared as a guest on several other children's TV shows during the 80's such as The Sooty Show and
Magpie.
In 1988 appeared for the Children's Royal Variety Show at the Victoria Palace, London.
In 1991-1996 co/devised, again with Peter Charlton, a 'make and do' show entitled 'Bitsa" which ran for six
years, designing the models, working "Hands" an eccentric puppet and wrote two books to accompany the
series. Advisor on other television shows such as The Fimbles, The Happy Monsters and Sticky.
2000 appeared at the Millennium Dome and numerous outdoor events in England, Dubai, Kuwait, Iceland,
and Malta. Advisor and performer at for various corporate events held in venues such as The Albert Hall
and cities such as St Petersburg.
Stilt advisor for the film Time Bandits, Dark Crystal and stilt advisor for the RSC.
2003 appeared at Buckingham Palace for the Queen?s Coronation celebrations and featured on the front
cover of the Daily Mail with Her Majesty. Appeared again for the Queen on her 80th birthday celebrations
"Children's Party at the Palace' in 2006. 2005-2012 was the regular clown at the Christmas International
Horse Show held at Olympia, London.
In 2013 was clown, stilt walker and Ringmaster for 'Circus in the City' in Jamaica and in the same year appeared for the grand opening of Yas Waterworld in Abu Dabi
Has recently completed a book called 'Giant Steps' on the art of stilt walking, its history and applications, from their practical to recreational uses, ritual and importance in the world of entertainment.
