Past Trap Guard

JOHNNY MANS is the third generation of a showbiz family with his Grandfather being a Yorkshire comedian and his Grandmother a dancer with the Tiller Girls. His mother also became a Tiller Girl as well as being a pantomime producer and a Dance School teacher. Johnny's six sisters were also professional dancers, one of them touring with Arthur Lucan (Old Mother Riley) and another one in Kirby's Flying Ballet.
Johnny appeared in his Mother's pantomime productions from the age of eight, first as a Cat in Dick Whittington, then as a Footman in Cinderella. After several years he developed his own comedy act and became one of the famous Carrol Levis Discoveries, appearing on television from Aston Studios in Birmingham. He also starred on television in a new talent show called "New Airs & Faces", hosted by the Welsh Prince of Laughter, Wyn Calvin. The MANS family all hail from Bristol in the West Country and are proud to be related to that famous Bristolian "Archie Leach". More famously known as the legendary movie star "Cary Grant"!
Over the years Johnny also appeared in theatres with star names of that era including the famous American comedy duo The Bernard Brothers. He also worked with Derek Roy, Jimmy Young, Marty Wilde, Ronnie Hilton and for a while joined the Holiday Camp world, first as a Redcoat (and a short spell as a Bluecoat) then went on to become the youngest Entertainment Manager at the age of 21.
The world of clubland also beckoned and he performed throughout the UK in many areas including South Wales, The Midlands, the North East, Scotland, The West Country, London, Leeds and Liverpool, and this was interspersed with major UK theatre tours, Cruise ship engagements, Summer season shows, pantomimes, a lengthy tour of Australia and he spent over fourteen months on the South African club and cabaret circuit.
After five summer seasons in Jersey in various production shows he eventually turned his hand to producing his own shows, being an agent and manager and also a concert promoter. Since the early 1980's he has become a prominent name in the entertainment world having managed major stars such as Sir Norman Wisdom, Anne Shelton, Max Bygraves, Danny La Rue, Nicholas Parsons, David Prowse, Kenny Baker, Jess Conrad, Jon Pertwee and many others, and the celebrities he has worked with over the years are countless, producing and promoting shows for names such as Des O'Connor, Anthony Newley, Joan Regan, Cilla Black, The Platters, Bob Monkhouse, Jess Conrad, Jim Davidson, Rolf Harris, Jack Parnell, Frankie Vaughan, Frank Ifield, Val Doonican, Roger De Courcey, Warren Mitchell, Rick Wakeman, Frankie Howerd, Suzi Quatro, Little & Large, Vince Hill, Tom O'Connor, Buddy Greco, Lonnie Donegan, Lena Zavaroni, The New Squadronaires Orchestra, Rose-Marie, Mary O'Hara, Danny Williams, John Inman, Dame Vera Lynn and many, many more.
For several years he was Managing Director of Billy Marsh Promotions, having been a great friend and associate of the legendary Billy Marsh throughout a few decades, and when Billy passed away Johnny set up Johnny Mans Productions which is still going strong to this day.
In 2009 he took over the mantle of ENCORE Magazine, printed every two months for the entertainment industry, and a periodical that has become an asset to the world of Light Entertainment containing listings, showbiz gossip, nostalgia photographs, current news items, interviews, advertising, and celebrity readers. It's printed for December/January, February/March, April/May, June/July, August/September, August/September, and October/November. It's available on subscription and also online.

And in 1995 he was proud to be honoured with The Freedom of The City of London. He's also produced many shows at both St. James's Palace and Buckingham Palace in the company of several members of The Royal Family.
Johnny is also a true family man having been married to his Property Consultant wife Becky for 41 years, having two offspring, his son Elliot being a Senior Business Analyst & Logistics Specialist in the aviation world since receiving a first class honours at University then spending time working with Luton Airport, Virgin Atlantic Airlines, British Airways and Monarch Airlines.
