Born in London as Barry Sautereau, his father being French and his mother English.Originally training as an aircraft engineer, he worked in the hotel business for a couple of years whilst taking private training in singing and acting with Mabel Corran and Mary Phillips, respectively.He consequently followed a most distinguished career in musical theatre, appearing on Broadway in New York and at numerous major venues throughout the world.His theatre credits include 'Where's Charley?' (Palace Theatre, London 1958, playing Reggie), and 'Mame' (Theatre Royal Drury Lane, London 1969, playing Beauregard). Also, he played Lancelot in 'Camelot' (1964).He can be heard singing on 10 original cast albums.Television credits include 'The Good Old Days' (1953), 'Glamour' (1962) and 'Stars on Sunday' (1969).He lived in Botswana, Africa, for the last years of his life.Barry was a distinguished, tall and handsome gentleman of the old school who made his mark in the world of entertainment.
