Tank Sherman, real name Graham Sherman, hails from the West Country, where growing up in poverty just gave him more material to laugh about. He once turned up to school wearing one of his sister’s old dresses, only to find his teacher in the exact same outfit – embarrassing for both of them.
He first stepped into comedy after winning an after-dinner spot at the National Psychics Association in Bournemouth – a night that apparently cleared half the room, but lit the fuse on his career in showbiz. With encouragement from his great-grandfather, the famed psychic Seymour Sherman, Tank built an act filled with daft jokes, clever sight gags and wonderfully absurd storytelling.
By the mid-1990s, he was a familiar face across the West Country circuit. In 1999, he appeared on ITV’s Give Your Mate a Break, performing for millions of viewers. Since then, he’s headlined at venues like the Babbacombe Theatre, appeared on television, toured cruise ships and taken his unique brand of comedy as far as Namibia and the Arctic Circle.
Critics have praised his originality and timing. One reviewer described him as “a genuinely funny guy with his own brand of inspired lunacy,” and singled out a snooker cue sight gag as comedy gold.
Tank doesn’t rely on swearing or shock tactics – just well-crafted material, smart delivery and his own natural charm. Whether it’s a sharp after-dinner set, a full evening show, a bit of magic or a singalong, Tank Sherman brings the laughs, wherever he goes.
