BIOGRAPHY
Steve Barclay is a beloved member of the Grand Order of Water Rats and a seasoned entertainer who has spent a lifetime making audiences laugh, sing and cheer. His warm presence, quick wit and deep respect for traditional show business have made him a standout figure in British variety and pantomime.
As a comic, singer, impressionist and actor, Steve has travelled the length and breadth of the country performing in theatres, cabaret clubs and cruise ships. He is particularly well known for his performances as a pantomime dame, starring in productions across Birmingham, Leicester, Manchester and Lincoln. He has shared the stage with legends like Cannon and Ball and has become known for his sharp timing, physical comedy and crowd-pleasing charm.
Steve's variety shows are a loving tribute to the golden age of entertainment. His one-man production "Comedy Turns" celebrates the genius of performers like Ken Dodd, Tommy Cooper, George Formby and Max Wall. With a ukulele in hand, a song on his lips and a twinkle in his eye, he brings old-school showbiz back to life in theatres, clubs and special events across the UK.
In his show "1940s Comedy Blitz", Steve transports audiences back to the days of ENSA and wartime comedy, complete with nostalgic tunes and classic gags. He also shares stories from his own life in "Unknown to Millions", a heartfelt and humorous look at the ups and downs of a working entertainer, inspired by decades on the circuit.
Steve Barclay’s love for the stage is matched by his love for the Water Rats. As a Brother Rat, he represents the best of the Order – generous, good-humoured and dedicated to the values of charity, fellowship and tradition. Whether wearing a frock as a dame or a tuxedo as a cabaret star, Steve is a performer who gives his all and always leaves an audience smiling.
