BIOGRAPHY
Simon King is best known to millions as one half of the iconic Hairy Bikers, the motorcycle-riding, food-loving double act who brought heart, humour and home cooking to screens across the UK. With his trademark beard, booming laugh and Geordie warmth, Simon became a household name through a string of hit BBC series that mixed travel, banter and proper food.
Before television fame, Simon trained as a chef and worked his way through some of Britain’s top kitchens. He also spent time behind the camera as an assistant director and locations manager on film and TV productions, giving him a strong grounding in the entertainment industry.
Teaming up with his close friend Dave Myers, Simon found the perfect partnership. Together, the Hairy Bikers travelled the globe, cooking local dishes, celebrating culinary traditions and making audiences feel like they were along for the ride. Their shows, including The Hairy Bikers’ Cookbook, Mums Know Best and Meals on Wheels, weren’t just about food; they were about connection, nostalgia and joy.
Away from the cameras, Simon is a proud supporter of various charities and causes, particularly those connected to food poverty, health and wellbeing. His openness, humour and down-to-earth nature have made him not only a popular entertainer but also a trusted voice on important issues.
As a Water Rat, Simon brings all the ingredients that matter: brotherhood, generosity and a big helping of fun. He is a true man of the people, whether riding into a new town, cooking up a storm or supporting fellow Rats with warmth and good cheer.
