Simon Evans is a highly respected British stand-up comedian, writer and broadcaster, known for his intelligent observations, precise delivery and famously dry sense of humour. During a career spanning almost three decades, he has become a familiar figure across television, radio and the live comedy circuit.
His television appearances include two performances on Live at the Apollo, alongside appearances on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Mock the Week, Dave’s One Night Stand, Question Time and a full series of Channel 4’s Stand Up for the Week. He has also contributed additional material to the long-running BBC sitcom Not Going Out.
Simon has enjoyed particular success on BBC Radio 4. His acclaimed series Simon Evans Goes to Market ran for six series, finding comedy within the worlds of economics, finance and business. He has also been a regular guest and occasional host on The News Quiz, and has appeared on programmes including The Unbelievable Truth and Armando Iannucci’s Charm Offensive. Earlier in his career, he wrote and presented the satirical radio series The Way It Is.
His many live shows include Friendly Fire, Leashed, Genius 2.0, The Work of the Devil and Have We Met?. His work has toured extensively throughout the UK and internationally, including appearances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, the New Zealand Comedy Festival and the Aspen Comedy Festival.
Away from stand-up, Simon is an accomplished after-dinner speaker, awards host and commentator. He won Celebrity Mastermind in 2012, answering questions on the explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, and has appeared on both University Challenge: The Professionals and Christmas University Challenge. With his sharp wit, considerable knowledge and unmistakable stage presence, Simon Evans remains one of Britain’s most distinctive and accomplished comedians.
