ROBERT SHERMAN

BIOGRAPHY

Robert J. Sherman is a proud torchbearer of one of the world’s most iconic songwriting families. A fourth-generation composer and lyricist, Robert has continued the legacy of the Sherman name with his own unique voice, penning music and lyrics for stage, screen and beyond.

At just 16, he became one of the youngest members ever admitted to BMI (Broadcast Music, Incorporated), marking the start of a career rooted in storytelling and song. Since then, Robert has built an impressive catalogue across theatre, film and television, often wearing multiple hats as a composer, lyricist and book writer.

His musical theatre credits include
Love Birds (Pleasance, Edinburgh), A Spoonful of Sherman (UK & Ireland tour, Live at Zédel, The Other Palace), Bumblescratch (Adelphi Theatre) and A Christmas Held Captive (Beverly Hills Playhouse). On screen, his songs have featured in Amazon Jack (Columbia TriStar) and The Magic 7 (Pulse Entertainment).

Robert continues to create new and original musicals, with several animated and stage projects currently in development. These include
Inkas the Ramferinkas, The Magic Flute, The Penguin Pirate, and Antarcticlaus, a new festive musical.

He is a graduate of USC’s prestigious School of Cinema/TV Filmic Writing programme and a past participant in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop – a respected training ground for musical theatre creators. Today, he serves as Chairman and Co-Founder of Sherman Theatrical Entertainment and General Partner of Music World LP.

In 2017, Robert was invited into the Grand Order of Water Rats, joining the ranks of fellow entertainers dedicated to both their craft and charitable work. Now based in London, Robert continues to write, produce and share the magic of musical storytelling with audiences across the world.
