BIOGRAPHY
Starting in his father PPR Ken Joy’s stage act from the age of 6, Richard has been in the business nearly 30 years. Starting in the chorus in provincial theatre (the Margate Winter Gardens and Queens Theatre, Hornchurch), Richard moved into the orchestra pit at an early age.
As a musician Richard has played drums for the great and the good from his years in Summer Season, on tour all over the world and in Panto. He has been the driving force in the bands for Jimmy Cricket, The Grumbleweeds, Jess Conrad, Danny La Rue, Maurice Williams and the Tymes, Jonny Tillotson, The Diamonds, Eminem, Avril Lavigne, Bert Weedon, Chas McDevitt and many more.
In the 2000's Richard hit the mainstream with 3 Top 10 singles with the band Freefaller which afforded headline tours, 70,000 people capacity concerts in Leeds, London and Portsmouth and his songs on albums including Now That's What I Call Music 60, Smash Hits '05, Get Amped and numerous others.
In recent years Richard has moved into TV, concerts and personal artist management alongside MC and voicework.. He has worked on the Brits, various Party in the Parks and the Smash Hits Awards. TV credits include Top of the Pops, Smile, CD:UK, Popworld, T4 and MTV. Over the last few years he has directed, produced and managed shows for Calvin Harris, Girls Aloud, Rebecca Ferguson, Lemar, Fedde Le Grand, Jocelyn Brown, Pete Tong, Dita von Teese, Sonique, Two Bears, Jack Pack, Peter Andre, Escala, Freemasons, KT Tunstall and comedians including Russel Kane, Romesh Ranganathan, Tom Allen, Josh Widdecombe. Jimmy Carr, Nish Kumar, Rob Beckett and Patrick Kielty
As an MC and voiceover artist Richard has worked on many of London's biggest events. From co-hosting with Lauren Laverne (BBC6 Music), Kevin Pietersen, Stephen Mangan and Rachel Parris (The Mash Report) to Rob Beckett (8 Out of 10- Cats, Mock the Week) to fashions shows, live TV (season premieres for Britain’s Next Top Model) and radio ad recordings, he has worked far and wide and is the first call for many of the biggest Awards and Fashion shows in the UK.
