Nicko McBrain is a legendary drummer, entertainer and larger-than-life character best known as the powerhouse behind the iconic heavy metal band Iron Maiden. With his unmistakable energy, technical skill and infectious humour, Nicko has become one of the most recognisable and respected drummers in rock music.
Born in London, Nicko’s love for rhythm started early, banging on pots and pans before graduating to a proper drum kit. He cut his teeth playing with various bands before joining Iron Maiden in 1982, a move that would help define the sound of one of the world’s biggest rock acts. His drumming has been the heartbeat of the band ever since, powering through stadium tours and multi-platinum albums for over four decades.
Off stage, Nicko is known for his quick wit, generous spirit and deep love of show business in all its forms. He’s a natural storyteller and an enthusiastic ambassador for music, often giving talks, workshops and charity performances. Despite his heavy metal roots, Nicko’s love for entertainment spans far and wide, with a genuine appreciation for variety, vaudeville and traditional live performance.
As a proud Water Rat, Nicko brings boundless energy, humour and heart to the Brotherhood. Whether drumming in front of thousands or chatting over a pint, he embodies the true spirit of the Order, talented, loyal and always ready to lend a hand or raise a smile.
