LORD FREDERICK WINDSOR

BIOGRAPHY

Lord Frederick Windsor, born on 6 April 1979, is the only son of Prince Michael of Kent and Baroness Marie-Christine von Reibnitz. As a great-grandson of King George V and a second cousin to King Charles III, Frederick holds a unique place within the Royal Family—balancing his heritage with a career and life firmly rooted in the modern world.

Educated at Wetherby and Sunningdale, then later at Eton College as an Oppidan Scholar, he went on to read Classics at Magdalen College, Oxford, graduating with a 2:1. After an early stint in the fashion world and a period as a music journalist, he carved out a successful career in the financial sector, joining JPMorgan in London in 2006. He later became an executive director, earning the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2013.
In 2009, he married actress Sophie Winkleman in a ceremony at Hampton Court Palace. Together they have two daughters—Maud and Isabella—both born into a blend of royal tradition and creative modernity. Maud even served as a bridesmaid at Princess Eugenie’s wedding, representing the next generation of this unique family.

Beyond his professional and royal roles, Lord Frederick has always had a strong sense of service. He served as President of the charity
Soldier On! for several years, supporting individuals who have faced significant challenges in life, helping them rebuild confidence and purpose through heritage-based projects.

In 2017, he was warmly welcomed into the Grand Order of Water Rats—a brotherhood built on the foundations of entertainment, charity and camaraderie. Since his induction, Lord Frederick has been an active and supportive member, regularly attending events and lending his presence to key occasions such as the prestigious Royal Dinner. His involvement bridges the Order’s historic traditions with the present day, bringing with him a touch of royal grace, thoughtful leadership, and a genuine commitment to charitable causes.

His background in finance, his artistic connections, and his personable, grounded nature make Lord Frederick a welcome and respected member of the Water Rats family—honouring the spirit of giving while sharing in the laughter and legacy that define the Order.
