DAVID COLQUHOUN - RED COLLAR RAT


BIOGRAPHY

Dave’s career spans several decades, he has collaborated with legendary artists such as Rick Wakeman, Brian May, and Procol Harum, showcasing his ability to blend technical proficiency with emotive performance.

With a Master's degree in “Music industry innovation and enterprise” coupled with vast studio experience, Dave has worked in legendary locations such as Abbey Road Studios. His proficiency as a Pro Tools expert underpins his role as a producer, where he has contributed to various projects, including co-writing tracks with Ian Brown of The Stone Roses.

He has graced prestigious venues including the London O2 Arena, London Palladium, Drury Lane, Ronnie Scott's and the Royal Albert Hall.
From performing orchestral shows to Acoustic and band format, Dave has an extensive international touring history.
He toured the USA with Bow Wow Wow in 1988/9, this was a huge tour, 76 dates over 50 states.

He has worked with many huge names worldwide including Francis Dunnery and the Grass Virgins, Alfie Boe, John Lodge, Go West, Paul Young, Belinda Carlisle, T’pau, Bananarama and a UK tour with the original Bucks Fizz.
In 2007 he appeared in the hit West End show “We Will Rock You”, the Queen Musical playing GUITAR 2 at the London Dominion Theatre and Theatre 11in Zurich.

Dave was Gareth Gates musical director for his Acoustic Guitar duo shows on board the P&O cruise ship Britannia for 30 dates between April- November 2019
He worked on the feature film “Bohemian Rhapsody” where he was the Guitar coach to Rami Malek (Freddie Mercury) and played the double of “Brian May” actor Gwilym Lee.

Dave has toured extensively with brother Water Rat Rick Wakeman, with the England Rock ensemble he played Hampton court, The O2, The Royal Festival Hall and numerous other venues worldwide.
Shows with Rick include “The Caped Crusader Tour” the “Journey to the centre of the earth tour” and the “King Arthur Recital” as well as countless festivals.
Alongside performing and recording Dave has shared his skills with a wide variety of students at Music Schools including BRIT, ACM, Water Bear and many others.

Dave was named Guitarist of the Year 1994/5 by Guitarist magazine.
