
BIOGRAPHY
Cliff Hall is a gifted pianist and versatile performer with a career that spans both the world of rock and the variety stage. Best known to many as the long-standing keyboardist for The Shadows, Cliff joined the legendary instrumental group in 1977 and remained with them through their tours and recordings into the mid-1980s and beyond. His playing added richness and style to their sound, whether on grand piano, electric keys or organ. He later returned for reunion tours, proving his place as part of the band’s lasting legacy.
Beyond The Shadows, Cliff built a strong career as a session musician, performing and recording with artists such as Leo Sayer, David Essex, the Bay City Rollers and Demis Roussos. His musical ability and easygoing professionalism made him a go-to name in the industry, comfortable in any genre and at home on any stage.
Within the Grand Order of Water Rats, Cliff served as the Musical Rat, regularly leading the Cliff Hall Trio at charity events, Rat in the Spotlight nights and special performances. His musicianship brings warmth, quality and live energy to every show, and his reputation as a generous and supportive collaborator is widely respected among fellow Rats and performers alike.
