CHRIS WOODWARD

BIOGRAPHY

Chris Woodward is an acclaimed magician whose career blends captivating performances with rigorous scholarship. He holds the esteemed title of Water Rat No. 831 in the Grand Order of Water Rats, a mark of respect for his artistry and commitment to charitable work in entertainment.

As a performer, Chris is a Gold Star member of the Inner Magic Circle, where his stage presence ranges from intimate parlour shows to full-scale illusions and dramatic reveals. His acts combine sleight-of-hand with thoughtful narrative, offering audiences more than tricks. They get mystery, story and charm.

Off-stage, Chris has made a significant contribution to the preservation of magic’s history. He authored
Rameses: The Forgotten Star, a detailed and beautifully written study of Edwardian illusionist Rameses, who once headlined at the London Palladium and performed before royalty. The book earned praise for bringing a forgotten figure back into the public eye with both accuracy and affection.

Within the Water Rats, Chris has served as Collecting Rat, helping to organise events, raise funds and support fellow Rats through his time and dedication. His work behind the scenes is just as valued as his work on stage.

Chris Woodward represents the best of variety. A skilled performer, a thoughtful historian and a loyal brother in the craft, he honours the traditions of the past while keeping the spirit of magic very much alive today.
