BIOGRAPHY
Andre Vincent is a seasoned British comedian, actor, writer, and variety performer whose globe-trotting career spans circus rings, refugee camps, comedy clubs, and opera houses alike. Born in May 1964 in Woolworth’s Department Store in Penge, Andre’s entrance into the world was as unexpected and theatrical as the career that would follow.
A Life in Performance
From an early age, Andre embraced the stage, working in theatre whenever a production needed a cheeky urchin or an upstaging herald. His formative years were spent as a stage brat and boy chorister, much to the joy of his family, who envisioned him following in his grandmother’s footsteps into grand opera. But Andre’s artistic destiny would take a more eclectic path.
Circus, Street Arts & Global Adventures
Following training in Paris, Andre packed his gear and hit the international circuit, performing at circus and street theatre festivals across the world. His fearless improvisation and natural comic timing won him audiences in the most unusual venues—from a bullring in Colombia to a refugee camp in the South China Sea, to a baseball stadium in Nova Scotia.
His work in these settings was both artistic and humanitarian, using comedy and physical theatre as a universal language to entertain and connect.
The Comedy Awakening
In 1988, after a stint performing at Disney World Florida (where smiling on cue wasn’t quite his style), a friend introduced Andre to a comedy club in Orlando. That night changed everything. Inspired by the atmosphere, Andre immersed himself in the American stand-up scene, earning his stripes across the southern states. By 1992, he had reached a career highlight—opening for none other than Bob Hope in Columbus, Ohio.
UK Circuit & Acclaim
Returning to the UK with a honed voice and a sharp tongue, Andre rapidly rose to prominence as one of the UK’s most respected and original stand-up comedians. His energetic style, storytelling skill, and improvisational flair made him a mainstay on the UK comedy circuit, where he’s been delighting audiences ever since.
TV, Theatre & Writing
Andre has appeared on numerous television programmes including The Comedy Store, Live at Jongleurs, The Big Stage, and Brain Candy. He co-wrote and starred in the acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe show Clunk, and his autobiographical solo shows have been praised for their emotional depth, intelligence, and humour.
He’s also a respected theatre actor and writer, unafraid to tackle serious themes with honesty and wit, often drawing on personal experiences, including his battle with cancer, which he has explored with characteristic humour and heart.
Grand Order of Water Rats
A proud member of the Grand Order of Water Rats, Andre is a cherished figure in the variety and comedy worlds. His dedication to live entertainment, his generosity of spirit, and his unique comic voice have earned him a place among the UK’s most beloved entertainers.
✨ Legacy in Laughter
Whether improvising in a tent in Bogotá, riffing on stage in Birmingham, or writing new material that balances hilarity with humanity, Andre Vincent remains a true entertainer—unpredictable, thoughtful, and always unapologetically original.
