Born Ronald Charles Waldron in Islington, London, Ronnie discovered his talent for singing, whistling and bird impersonation at an early age. At 15, he was invited to join Arturo Steffani's Silver Songsters, and Steffani became his personal manager in 1947.
Subsequently, they toured the world and Ronnie became a huge star of concerts, variety, recording, radio and television. (His best known hit was "In a Monastery Garden".)
He eventually moved to Australia but returned to the United Kingdom late in life.
His wife Rosemarie also became his manager following Steffani.
